Madonna » Videos » MusicThe music video for Madonna’s single Music from her album of the same name was filmed at A&M Stage and in one of Los Angeles nightclubs in April, 2000. Jonas Åkerlund directed the filming and Nicola Doring was the producer. Madonna’s collaboration with Jonas Åkerlund lasted since shooting the video for Madonna’s song Ray of Light (1998) and later they continued working together on videos for singles American Life (2003), Jump (2006), and Ray of Light (2007). The movie shows Madonna and her friends Niki Haris and Debi Mazar cruising in limousine driven by British comic Sacha Baron Cohen (who is also a writer and an actor, most noted for his comic characters Borat) acting as Ali G character. Madonna in a white coat and cowboy hat of the same color is sitting in the luxury limousine singing her super hit Music. Creators included an animated part in the movie where Madonna is shown as a super-woman as it was the time then she was five-months pregnant with her son Rocco. She tried to keep it hidden by wearing large coats. The video features a parody of rap and Hip hop videos as it was inspired by famous Windowlicker music video by electronic music artist Aphex Twin. There were recorded two versions of the video: a "regular version" and an "extended version" which included additional scenes with Ali G. In an interview with MuchMusic in 2000, Madonna said, "I'm always seeing gangster rappers, cruising around in limos, drinking champagne, and going to strip clubs. I never see women doing that, so...me being me, I thought huh, that's interesting. I think I'll do it” The video has won in numerous nominations, such as Best Pop Clip Of The Year at the Billboard Video Awards in 2000 and Best Dance Video at the International Dance Music Awards in 2000. The parody on MADtv titled Movies and featured Mo Collins as Madonna and Aries Spears as Ali G had raised jokes about films where Madonna acted. |
