Keep It Together

Another song written and produced by Madonna in association with Stephen Bray for the Like a Prayer album was Keep It Together released in January, 1990. Creating the song they used Pop, Dance and Funk genres again. Unfortunately for Stephen Bray and Madonna this song was the last collaboration work. The partnership of two talented persons had to be concluded with their work on Madonna's Like a Prayer album.

The album Like a Prayer was called Madonna’s most intimate and confessional release of that time. She expressed her feelings, dealing with her personal relationships, experiences with religion, men, and her family. In the single Keep It Together Madonna tried to reflect how important her family has been as a form of stability in her life. Though Madonna had mixed emotions about her childhood and teenage years the main theme of the song is clear – Madonna wanted everyone to realize that one's family "is gold". She sang “Keep it together in the family They're a reminder of your history”.

The music video for the Keep It Together single had never produced. Some music channels used footage from the song's performance in the Blond Ambition Tour, which referenced Cabaret in its staging.

Keep It Together sounds pop rhythms flavored with an R&B beat and rhythm. The lyrics follow the idea of reborn of weak Madonna to Madonna-superstar. It was the first single to be released as a domestic CD maxi-single. The official radio mix of Keep It Together is the first mix on the single. And it was a really cool, sophisticated dance song, which helped propel the single into the Top Ten.

Keep It Together lyric is ranked quite well by public. The single reached good positions in Billboard Hot 100. In China and Japan it was rather successful too. In US Keep It Together achieved 8th position and became Madonna's eighteenth top-ten single. In the United States it got Gold certification.
